1970s Airchecks

1) WIVK-FM 107.7/AM 850 - Knoxville, TN (1972)
Info: This is a short scoped aircheck of Claude 
Tomlimson, the morning man at WIVK-FM/AM, the country
music station in Knoxville, Tennessee. The station
moved its AM station to 990 as the AM station was bought
by the University of Tennessee in the late 1980s.

2) WOKI-FM 100.3 - Knoxville, TN (1975-1977)
Info: This clip features a commercial or two, IDs, and a
jingle or two as heard on WOKI-FM 100.3 back in the mid
1970s.

3) WOKI-FM 100.3 - Oak Ridge, TN (10/8/1975)
Info: This is a scoped aircheck of J. L. Myers on WOKI-FM 
100.3 from October 8, 1975. This station broadcasted an
Album Rock/Top 40 format during its first few years of
operation.

4) Buffalo Radio Composite - Buffalo, NY (1976)
Info: This is a composite of radio in Buffalo, New York
from 1976. The composite features station clips from WBEN
and other Buffalo radio stations.

5) WMJX-FM 96.3 - Miami, FL (3/9/1977)
Info: This is an unscoped aircheck of WMJX-FM 96.3 (“96X”)
from March 9, 1977. In this aircheck, we hear Frank Reed
in the first few minutes while Kid Curry is heard for the
remainder of the aircheck.

The station signed off the air on February 15, 1981 and
WMJX lost its license. The station would come back on June
15, 1985 with a non-stop Top 40 countdown known as “The
Super 16”.
 
The station changed its calls to WPOW, the format from top
40 to dance top 40, and its name from “96X” to “Power 96”.

6) WOKI-AM 1550 - Oak Ridge, TN (9/13/1977)
Info: This is a short scoped aircheck of WOKI-AM 1550, an 
AC station that is dark nowadays. They were WORI-AM in
their final years in Oak Ridge.

7) Cleveland Radio Composite - Buffalo, NY (1978)
Info: This is a composite of radio in Cleveland, Ohio from
1978. Stations heard in this composite are WGAR-AM 1220,
WMMS-FM 100.7, and others.
